Any doctors/lab techs know results for benedict's?
I am currently a biology major at a college. I know this is disgusting, but I ran a Benedict's test on my urine to test for glucose. I've noticed precipitate in my urine recently, and since I do not have health insurance right now, I went ahead and ran the test myself just in case I got an obvious positive. Then I'd go ahead and get tested for diabetes since there shouldn't be any glucose. Anyway, The solution after cooling is brown. not red or yellow like it should be, but brown. Also, there is a HUGE amount of white/slightly yellow precipitate on the bottom of the beaker. about 50ml worth. My question is this: since Benedict's is blue and urine is yellow, is a negative result brown? and.... should urine normally produce an enormous amount of precipitate when heated? I don't know what this result is, and I'm not experienced enough to know.
