Creative Sound Blaster in a Pentium 4?

I can get one with very low price and I'm thinking of buying a Creative Sound Blaster for my computer but worry that it might caused my pc to lag when it is in use.. What do guys you think? My pc spec: P4, 1.7ghz, 512mb ram.
