Boring boy :/ why come he's so lame and yet i like him so much?

I have a friend that a text and im, he lives at college in far far away. he's fun, i ume he likes hearing my stories, and he's also like my defacto therapist. but sometimes we dont talk, and it's boooring, i wish he'd tell me stories about his day but when i ask him "how was your day" he goes, "boring". but, he's honest, and straightforward, how come i like like him instead of just appreciating him?
