Can a tattoo artist help me out real quick?

so i have an ugly unwanted tattoo on my shoulder going around it not all the way but its a five letter word its not hug but its not tiny if i go to the tattoo parlor and ask them to cover it up with another word would it look right or should i somehow try to get the tat on my shoulder removed first and if so what are some cheap store OR at home ways to fade it up a lil bit
