Need advise on home improvemet?

well we have decided to put new flooring in a few rooms.We are also going to paint our fireplace room.Ok i have a house that's almost 100 yrs old.It still has the original trim around the doors,baseboards and windows.We bought some thinking it would look so beautiful when done wich would require us to get rid of all the trim in that one room.Long run though....id have to replace it in the entire house! ur opinion...should i make it a little more up dated...or leave it with the original trim and charm
